in the works

I have big plans (as always) for some quilts. I hope to make 2 full size quilts for the boys sometime in the near future. I was thinking Christmas, but I know that might not be realistic. Maybe Owen's for his 5th birthday, and Elliots... sometime. I have been stashing away clothing and scraps that would have special meaning, or tell a story; I think this adds so much "warmth" to a quilt - when you know you are wrapped up in Daddy's shirt.

I wanted something that would be cute and "little boy" now, but also cool and "hip" (I'm sure that wont be the word they use in 10 years) when he is a teenager - and maybe even his little boy someday - oh, my.

Seeing as this boy of mine loves all things space - I decided to use this great wonky star square, and do it in a variety of sizes, and random placement on the quilt. Owen has been involved in the process; from choosing fabrics, to voting on the design, and the blue background was his pick.

I have 3 squares down... and maybe 12 or so to go. I have never really worked with triangles - this changes things for sure. fabric on the bias is, hum, a little wonky. it moves when you don't want it to. But this square allows for some imperfection. And my sweet O will love it just the same.

So just a little sneak-peek! I will be back with a completed quilt soon.
