Some sewing for the littlest one happening here today. I have been in need of something other than a cloth diaper or undies to put on Elliot when we are just here during the day - or out for a quick errand. Diapers are a little tricky to get off and on quick if he has to "go", and undies don't offer much protection when he he gets busy playing and forgets to tell me he needs to go. and I am not interested in paying for pull-ups on an on going basis. There are some great
cloth style pull-ups out there, but for now, I was just wanting something I could make at home.
I am grateful that Dave recently cleaned out his closet for this project! First up, a sweater with holes... felted, and turned into a
wool soaker. This is something I can put on alone, over a pair of undies, or with a diaper at nap time. Wool has some amazing absorption properties, and will help to stop some if those leaks.

Using the same pattern, I made one from a knit shirt, and added a wool panel for extra absorption.

and another... this time from a shirt of Owens. It acquired some stains that were not going to budge, but found a new life as a super cute pair of boxer-brief style training pants. This time with a 4 layer jersey panel in the "wet-zone". The sleeves where the perfect size for the legs, and I used the neck opening for the waist band.

oh, and some little "trainers" for the baby, too. I couldn't help myself.

All for the trainers where made using
this great pattern and instructions. Once I had the basic construction down, I modified a bit to suit my needs. I am hoping these (and maybe a few more) will get us through the next couple of months, until he is ready to move forward a bit in his potty training.
and speaking of laundry, the boys and I whipped up a batch of
this laundry soap today. We did our first few loads with it today, and so far so good!

I really do love Mondays! What have you been up to today?
