birds and caterpillars

I finally finished something I have been working on for a while. As Dave has been hard at work on our remodel, I have been planning our new decorations. I have a stock pile of fabric scraps, samples and cut up garments in piles all over the house. And hundreds of ideas floating around in my head!

A few months ago I picked up an adorable dish towel from Anthro, and quickly decided it would make a cute front door curtain. I raided my fabric stash and closet looking for just the right thing to add some length. Hanging in the back of my closet was a very cute dress, that I never wore due to fit, but had not parted with because the fabric is fabulous. It was just the thing for the top of the curtain. The dress even had a ruffle around the bottom that I removed and reused for a little detail. It is hanging happily now, and makes me smile when I look at those sweet birdies. And sorry about the not so great picture - flash...

another SO cute project that I did over the weekend was commissioned by my sister. She hosted a baby shower for a friend over the weekend, and needed a little plush owl to keep with her Owl theme. These little owls are so stinkin' cute, and fun to make. I was very happy with the way they turned out. (and think she was too.)

Of course I have a little craft for the boys, too. Something so simple, but much loved in our house is storytelling. The boys love when Dave and I make up stories, or tell stories about our childhood. I read this post a while back, and thought it would be a great way to enhance storytelling, and something I plan to incorporate into our school year. A little flannel board, nothing fancy - flannel pulled tight and hotglued on the back of a piece of plywood from Dave's stash.

and no, there are no fish in "The Very Hungry Caterpillar," just a random one swimming by.

That is just a taste of the crafting going on around here. Will be back soon to show off my hubby's handiwork, and some more of my crafting.

Tell me what is on your sewing table.

  1. Somehow, I missed this post. I love those owls! They are so adorable! We've been reading the very hungry caterpillar a ton, too. :)
