A little music

We have a new little treasure in our home. For about a year now we have been watching the second-hand market for a piano, and this weekend we found the one. We brought it home Saturday afternoon, and we all love it. The boys run to it first thing in the morning, and Dave and I both stop at it to pick out a song as we walk by. It is a beautiful dark wood(mahogany?) Baldwin, about 20 years old we think. It has been loved, has some scratches and dings, but I think I will actually welcome the fact that it is already "broken in"... and not be quite as concerned about little fingers exploring on it.

Owen is in awe of the inner workings, and insists on playing it open so he can watch the hammers. He is already exploring the different sounds that the bass and treble produce. Elliot just lives to sit and play, or listen to Mommy and Daddy play. I am feeling quite rusty. After nearly 10 years of piano training, I can't play much off the top of my head. I am looking forward to re-learning and teaching the boys as they build a foundation in music.

I couldn't imagine a childhood without the piano, and I am so proud to be offering this gift now to our boys.

May music fill your day and coming week!

  2. How awesome! I'm sure the boys would love to hear their mama play them some tunes to enjoy. What a great gift. :)
