Chef Owen

Owen made dinner tonight. I was camping out on the couch not feeling great, and Dave was feeling fried after a long day at work, so I asked Owen if he would make dinner.

On the menu: Jelly Butter Bagels (Almond or Sunbutter & Jelly on a Bagel).

We recently had a sandwich making lesson, so this was a good chance for him to help. He got everything out of the fridge, along with a cutting board and the "beaver tail" knife, then set to work. He did great, and was so proud to help. He even asked if the bagels where organic... they were not, he looked a little shocked, and then asked if they were safe for he and Elliot to eat... they were. They were some for the messiest bagels I think they have ever had, as he loaded them up thick with jam and almond butter. Both boys were due for a bath after dinner for sure!

I love to see how he is growing and becoming more independent, not just in helping with things around the house but in his personality, too. He is becoming more vocal about what he likes and doesn't like, and is developing his own little style. He has a few quirks like sportin' dinosaur socks with crocs, that I think calls for an intervention, but I bite my tongue and support his style and emerging personality.

My sweet Owen, King on the Bagels, superstar 4.5 year old, I love you so
