Busy, busy...

The summer is keeping us busy, and I have about 15 posts floating around in my head... but have yet to type them up. So, just checking in for a moment with what we have been doing this week.

Going out in the mail today is our care package to Craft Hope. It is our small part to help aid the workers in cleaning the oiled animals in the Gulf. Owen helped to cut up an old towel into 10 x 10 squares; we will send those along with a bottle of Dawn dish soap. The materials will be handed off to The Institute for Marine Mammal Studies, the Audubon Nature Institute and the Mississippi Sandhill Crane National Wildlife Refuge. Owen is very proud of his efforts, and has even been playing "oil spill worker" in his pretend play.

On the potty front: Elliot is continuing to show interest in going potty. Some days we make it all day with a dry diaper or undies, and some days there is nothing dry in sight. Monday I took time to set up a couple of potty stations, that might keep him interested and sitting just a little longer. The baskets are proving to be lots of fun to play with;

sometimes the potty gets overlooked,

and sometimes the toys join in...

It is fun either way - never a dull moment.

Yesterday, Owen and I had a special day together. We went downtown to the Museum of Natural Science to see the Hubble 3D IMAX movie. Owen has never been to the movie theatre, much less an IMAX - with red 3D glasses! I think he said WOW about 100 times in the first 20 minutes. It really was an amazing movie, and the information was mind blowing. The images captured by the Hubble are just breathtaking.

This is what Owen had to say:

"I liked all of it. I really liked being an astronaut in my take off suit. I remember they wear their orange take off suit when they are just about to blast off, and then they just wear a T-shirt when they are just in the shuttle, and when they are going out in space they wear a white suit. I really liked touching all the things (he kept reaching out and trying to touch the stars... 3D.... supercool). That was so funny when he tried to eat and his tortilla was floating around. Mostly it was just watching the movie."

In his "spacesuit"

Ready to blast-off (with his jr. mechanic).

So, that is what is happening here...

Oh! and Dave went for a haircut yesterday, and consequently got a minor incision in his neck. Always a nice way to end a Wednesday.

Tell me about your week!
