Okay - I just made the cutest little cardigan/wrap/shrug thing... had to share. It started with the need to revamp my sad little wardrobe. I have been to Good Will in search of things to work with, and to my own closet for things that I never "loved", or never fit great.
So I have a whole stack of clothes now that will be getting a new life.
This fabulous pink thing started it's life as a shapeless pullover hoodie that I bought at Old Navy a few summers ago... it was worn mostly as a cover up at the pool.

So first I cut it up the middle, and around the neckline to remove the hood. Then shortened the sleeves to mid-arm. There was a 1.5" inch hem that I removed as well. It is a jersey material, so it just rolls when cut, no hemming required!
Then using the extra sleeve pieces and some of the hood, I cut 2" (roughly) strips, sewed them end to end and made a long strip to ruffle around the front and neck. This was done by simple sewing a straight stitch and stopping every so often to fold the strip into a ruffle shape. You can see the idea here.
Go grab and shirt and sew! It is so easy and fun!
And a little repurposing for Owen:
New PJ shorts - repurposed flannel from a pillowcase that was no longer in use.
