Strawberries

We have been enjoying some wonderfully sweet berries around here this week. Last week we made a trip to King's Orchard to try our hand at strawberry picking. Although the weather could have been a little warmer, the berries could not have been better. They were so beautiful we (accidentally) picked 12lbs! I just couldn't stop putting them in our box.

To the boys delight, Dave was able to take a little time out of his morning to join us. We also met a few friends there that we picked and picniced with.

Owen and I worked on a strawberry Lapbook during the last couple of weeks. It was fun to learn some facts about the berries, and read some books to anticipate our outing. I think Owen's favorite was The Giant Jam Sandwich.

We have enjoyed some strawberry topped pancakes, a strawberry, blueberry and peach cobbler, strawberry muffins, strawberry smoothies and lots of fresh berries! With a few pounds in the freezer, some set aside to attempt jam, there are just a few fresh left for eating.

Yum! Loving the sweet taste of spring.
