Cookie of the Month Club

So, keeping with our handmade Christmas gifts, I gave Dave a homemade "Cookie of the Month Club" as his special gift. Cookies are important to Dave... very important, and baking is not one of my favorite things to do. I spend most the day in the kitchen out of necessity, and when I do bake I substitute the heck out of it so the boys can eat it. Dave is often left with the short end of the stick, and the childhood "cookie" memories are just that... memories. I wanted to show him he was important to me, by embracing something that was important to him... even if it means lots of butter!

I put together a little recipe holder with 12 cookie cards in it that he can choose from, or he can request an old favorite, or something new he wants to try. For January he went with Pecan Sandies. I baked them tonight, using a recipe from a friend, and made them EXACTLY as the instructions said.

Even measured the flour with the appropriate cup, AND leveled it (this was picture worthy!)

and thank you Rob and Kim for the SILPAT... and baking sheet! Very timely.

Just look how cute they are! and evidently delicious. Dave ate 7. I should have doubled the recipe. Maybe I will make a second batch later in the month... maybe

I hope your year is off to a great start. My head is full of goals and "work towards" thoughts. I am excited about what 2010 has in store for us.

Oh, and note the new blog header... love it
